Kingdom Rules

Kingdom Rules

Postby JasonYarnell on Sat Jan 30, 2010 9:37 am

So I finally got my copy of The Ultimate Base and I immediately read through Chapter 8 for the Kingdom Rules.

Essentially this chapter is dedicated to playing a 'Kingdom' as a character and is the linchpin in a concept I plan on using for a future book. This boils down to letting a large selection of people play burgeoning societies on a remote continent in Kamarathin.

I'll manage the playing through either Hero Central or an email setup (still deciding) and I'll referee the game play, handling the odd random events and what not. Eventually I will have let the game progress long enough and then I will have centuries of played out history and cultural interaction all outlined in the game emails/forums.

Then I will publish it.

Cool, eh?

Ok, I've fired off the initial invite to folks and should be receiving their responses. in the meantime I've solidified the races/species that will be available for selection.

Now onto the map.

Ok, so here's the current map:

Plasania

It will be updated as I map out the terrain on each tile.

I'm intrigued by the kingdom rules since it could add a new dynamic to Inceptum Terminus. Does each player take control over an individual kingdom?

Essentially yes. But a kingdom can be anything from a political organization or street gang on up to a galactic federation. It's incredibly scalable.

you should check out New Gods of Mankind from Dark Skull Studios. Players create a god and choose how their gods rule the people. The gameplay itself plays like a RTS. Sounds sort of similar to what you are mentioning.

There was a video game like that called Black & White, I believe. Cool stuff.

I got Ultimate Base last night in pdf and I'm really impressed with the kingdom rules. I'm going to incorporate support for them into IT.

Very cool. They're very well written and I only tweaked them a little to bring them more in line with my vision.

I agree, but I'm a little confused over the Con stat and how many people it represents. Hopefully, Steve will answer my question regarding it over on the Hero Forums.

I'm adding in the navies for each of the Corporate States. I've gotten the various battle groups etc... and the ranking structure figured out. I just have to go back in and rework each of the Corporate State armed forces to include the navy element.
